Fluffy French Toast
Nothing says Sunday morning quite like a stack of crisp and fluffy French toast. Arguably the ultimate brunch food. French toast usually comes covered in butter, cream and sugar making it more of a dessert. This recipe is a lighter version of the “classic” French toast. I covered mine in strawberries, greek yogurt, maple syrup and cinnamon but feel free to add the family favorites.
* The key to making the best french toast is the bread. I like using a loaf of local sourdough, if you’re gluten-free, go for your favorite gluten-free bread.
3-4 slices thick-cut bread (I like sourdough or whole-grain)
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon olive oil
In a bowl mix the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt.
Dip the bread into the mixture, make sure it is soaked through.
Heat a frypan over medium heat and add the oil. Cook each side in for about 5 minutes, or until lightly browned. Add toppings and enjoy!
