Spicy Turmeric Latte

1 cup almond milk or coconut milk

1 teaspoon fresh turmeric root, grated. Powdered turmeric also works

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger or ginger powder

1 teaspoon coconut oil

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

Pinch of pepper


  1. On a low heat, combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and stir. Leave on a low heat for 5 minutes but don't let it boil.
  2. Take off the heat and place liquid into a blender. Blend for around 30 seconds so the liquid can turn creamy.
  3. Serve immediately.

Since cutting down on my coffee consumption I made sure there was a delicious hot drink I could replace it with. Turmeric lattes have become my new favourite drink in the morning or at night, I love how soothing it is for the body, and how good it makes me feel. This recipe has a spicy kick to it, that is grounding and nourishing.

Ginger, turmeric and cinnamon have incredible anti-inflammatory properties, which means this soothing and delicious latte is also really good for you. Turmeric is high in anti-oxidants and rich in zinc, B vitamins and iron. For those of you who haven’t tried turmeric lattes yet, I advice you to start with a small amount of turmeric, and increase the amount in your lattes slowly. Some people can find the taste over powering.
