Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
This chocolate hazelnut spread is so easy to make and tastes surprisingly similar to Nutella, except it contains no nasty additives. After trying this recipe you will never want to buy a pre made jar again. Serve this delicious spread over bread, oats, cakes, ice-cream, fruit or even eat straight with a spoon. It is sweet and creamy with a burst of rich chocolate and hazelnut flavour.
This recipe is dairy free, gluten free, soy and refined sugar free.
1 cup of hazelnuts 2 tablespoons of raw honey 5 pitted dates, chopped 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 tablespoon of raw cacao (can use cocoa powder)
1. Line an oven tray with parchment paper and place the hazelnuts evenly on top of the tray. Roast the hazelnuts in the oven on bake at 180 C for 10-15 minutes or until the hazelnuts are golden. Keep an eye on the hazelnuts as they can burn easily. 2. Cool the hazelnuts down for 1o minutes and shake the oven tray so that the skins from the hazelnuts come off. If some skins stay on that is perfectly fine. 3. Place the hazelnuts, honey, vanilla, chopped dates and cacao into a food processor and blend for around 1-2 minutes or until the mixture is thick and smooth. 4. Pour the mixture into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
