Orange and Coconut Bliss Balls
For a long time now I have been making bliss balls and I am always experimenting with new flavours and recipes. This particular recipe is one of my favourites as the orange gives it a sweet refreshing taste but they also have a hint of chocolate. These take around 10 minutes to make and can be eaten as a raw snack or as a dessert.
They are dairy free, gluten free and refined sugar free. Rather than opening up a chocolate bar when feeling like a sugar hit, try making these tasty morsels.
2 cups of raw almonds
20 pitted dates
1/3 cup of dried cranberries (optional)
1/3 cup of desiccated coconut (shredded also works)
1 Tablespoon of cinnamon
1 Tablespoon of cacao powder
1 Tablespoon of organic vanilla
For the outside coating:
1/3 cup of desiccated coconut
1: Place the almonds, dates, cranberries, coconut, cinnamon, cacao powder and vanilla in a blender or food processor and blend until the almonds are fine.
2: Grate both oranges, getting as much zest as you can and place this into the blender along with the juice of both the oranges. Blend until all the ingredients are combined.
3: Roll the mixture into small balls, this should make around 13-16.
4: Place the rest of the desiccated coconut into a shallow cup and roll each ball individually into the coconut, make sure the coconut is evenly covered on each bliss ball.
5: Place the bliss balls in the fridge for at least an hour before serving.
